The sports section of the Winter Haven newspaper printed an article about the WHSSC on March 24, 1986. At that time, the program was named the Winter Haven Senior Citizens Softball Club. Highlighted in the picture is Earl Ryals.

The Lakeland Ledger newspaper printed an article in the sports section about WHSSC founder Fred White. The date is unknown.

John Fulton administered CPR to Lakeland Senior Softball member and heart attack victim Pete Ostojic during the SSUSA Tournament of Champions in January of 2007.

The Autumn 2008 edition of the SSUSA circular Senior Softball News printed the 1st & 2nd place team pictures from the WHSSC 2008 season along with the final standings. The Merrill Lynch Gray and Polk Therapy Green team pictures are included.

Wayne Mundy was recognized in the Winter 2009 edition of the SSUSA circular Senior Softball News as one of the players chosen on the TOC All Tournament team. Wayne was the shortstop for the 65AAA division Lakeland Angels during the SSUSA Tournament of Champions during January 9-11, 2009.

The Lakeland Ledger newspaper ran an article in the sports section on March 17th after Jose Agosto and Russ Winner were inducted into the Polk County Senior Softball Hall of Fame on March 10, 2009. Joel Freedman is pictured with the two inductees.
