Here is an old team picture of the American Legion Post 8 tournament team from the 1990s. Winter Haven Senior Softball Club (WHSSC) members included Jose Agosto, Dan Connolly, John Fulton, Hank Gomez, Jack Valliere, & manager Fred White.

The American Legion Post 8 team played in the Kissimmee Senior Games in October of 1996. WHSSC members included Jose Agosto, Dan Connolly, John Fulton, Harvey Rennie, & manager Fred White.

R & R Sports won the Gold medal in the 1999 Polk Senior Games. WHSSC members included Jose Agosto, Ron Augenstein, John Fulton, Rusty Landahl, Jim Margolin, & Elmer Wilcox.

The Lakeland Angels, managed by Jose Agosto, won the 60s Division of the June 2000 Florida Half Century tourney. WHSSC members included John Fulton and Wayne Mundy.

On the same day of January 4, 2006, the American Legion Post 8 tournament team played in Nalcrest. The manager of this team was Floyd Welton.

Several members of the WHSSC played for the Lakeland Angels, which competed in the first annual SSUSA National Tournament in March of 2006. Jose Agosto managed the team.

Several members of the WHSSC played for the Lakeland Angels & placed 3rd in the SSUSA National Tournament in November of 2006 at Ft. Myers. The manager is Jose Agosto.

The Road Ends Shooting Range Bullets won the November 2006 Florida Half Century 50s Tournament in Lakeland. Several members of the WHSSC are on the team and the manager was Larry Powell.

Rich Palmer managed a team from the Deer Creek RV Park and played at Nalcrest on January 17, 2007. Players from WHSSC are Fred Dampier, Don Erb, Bill Evans, Keith Linton, Bob Martin, Bernie Peterson, Dick Wilhelm, & Ken Wilson.

Floyd Welton chose a 70s team to challenge Nalcrest on January 17, 2007. The 70s team won 22-8.

Former WHSSC member Dwight Pavkovich managed a 1st place 55s team named the Eagles in the 2007 Polk Senior Games. WHSSC members on the team included Fred Dampier, Freddy Gonzalez, Cecil Vasquez, Larry Williamson, & Don Witmer & and former member Jim Bright.

Several members of the WHSSC play for Red's Sporting Goods, a CanAm team that won their bracket in the March 2007 Florida Half Century tournament.

Ted Taylor, the only player in the middle row, managed the 2007 Markham Gold team in Canada.

Some Winter Haven Senior Softball Club members occasionally played against a group of ball players from the Kissimmee morning league. The first doubleheader took place in Kissimmee on June 13, 2007. The Kissimmee team travelled to Winter Haven on August 15, 2007 for a doubleheader.

Bill Ayer, Elmer Black, Dick Wilhelm, & former WHSSC member Milton Ellis played on the Windham Connecticut Elders tournament team in 2007.

John Ormsby & Hugh Lessard played with the Dorchester Canadians 65 team. The team won the gold medal in the Midwest Championship in Champaign, Illinois that took place on July 9-11, 2007.

John Ormsby & Hugh Lessard are teammates on the Dorchester Canadians. Their team won the gold medal at the Columbus Classic in the 65 division in Columbus, Ohio on July 20-22, 2007.

The Lakeshore-Nalcrest Friendship Tournament took place in Nalcrest on November 24, 2007. The Winter Haven Wonders, managed by Floyd Welton, placed third.

Brent Alumbaugh, the first player kneeling on the left, was a member of the Ottman Environmental Bobcats in 2007. The Bobcats were ranked ninth of all the Florida Half Century 50s tournament teams.

Three players from the WHSSC travelled with the Nalcrest team to Barefoot Bay for a doubleheader on January 9, 2008. Barefoot Bay is a community of 10,000 just a few miles north of Vero Beach. Pictured here are Don Bercaw, Bob Swartz, & Fred Dampier.

Wayne Mundy, kneeling third from right, played with the Port St. Lucie Ramblers during the SSUSA Tournament of Champions between February 15-17, 2008 in Mulberry. The team went 5-0 and won the 65s AAA division.

The third annual Canada vs USA game took place in Winter Haven on February 20, 2008. Team USA won 12-5.

Former WHSSC member Hal Ridley was on the mound for Team Canada in Lakeland and Jerry Remington patrolled third base. Former member Wes Wilder was the third base coach for Team USA.

Freddy Gonzalez set up Team Puerto Rico and played against a USA team put together by Russ King on April 9, 2008 at the DiamondPlex in Winter Haven. WHSSC Players on Team Puerto Rico included Frank Acevedo, Jose Agosto, Eddie Diaz, Hank Gomez, & Angel Merced. WHSSC players on Team USA were Al Andrews, Doug Chamlee, Bob Christiansen, Chuck Duff, Sam Harrell, Ed Kline, Jim Laffoon, Wayne Mundy, Denny Shaffer, Larry Williamson, Don Witmer, and Bob Zelazny. The USA team won 21-20.

The Lakeland Angels, managed by Jose Agosto, won the AAA 65s division of the SSUSA Spring National Championships in April of 2008. WHSSC members included John Fulton, Wayne Mundy, Ron Thompson, & Dick Wilhelm.

Florida Half Century 70s team American Legion Post 8 won their division in the September 2008 tournament in Lakeland. Members of the WHSSC who are teammates on the tournament team are player/manager Joe Agosto and players Doug Chamlee, John Fulton, Sam Harrell, Wayne Mundy, Dick Sessink, Marvin Taylor, and Ron Thompson.

Floyd Welton was a member of the South Knoxville Cherokees. The team won the silver medal in the Tennessee Olympic Games in Franklin, Tennessee in July of 2008.

Eddie Diaz organized the Bad Boyz team & played at Nalcrest on October 11, 2008. The Bad Boyz won the doubleheader by scores of 12-8 and 17-2. Manager Eddie Diaz Bob DiPietro Roger Edwards Sam Lopez Bob Zelazny

The honorable Mr. Ruben Diaz, father of Eddie Diaz, and Eddie's lovely wife Cielo Diaz cheered the Bad Boyz on to victory. Mr. Diaz pitched in the 1947 Pan Am Games and was a AAA pitcher in the Puerto Rico professional baseball league.

The Windham Elders played in the Massachusetts Bay State League in a 50 game schedule and also competed in several tournaments. The team picture is from a tournament in Cape Cod. WHSSC member Bill Ayer coached the team and was given a lamp signed by the team as appreciation for being their manager this year.

While playing in a game at Nalcrest in November of 2008, Ted Taylor got a hole-in-one. He hit a ball down the rightfield line & it was lost for three innings. Later in the game, Marion "Boz" Bozman found the ball deep in a gopher hole along the fence line. Boz is shown holding the ball up so it can be seen.

The Michigan Hitmen, a 60s tournament team out of Dearborn, Michigan, won their division in the 2008 Huntsman Games in Utah. Over 330 teams participated in all the age categories. WHSSC members included Joe D'Herin, Chuck Duff, Jim Laffoon, and Danny Parker.

Florida Half Century 70s team American Legion Post 8 won their division in the state tourney in December 2008 in Lakeland. The team played for the state 70s championship and was crowned runners up. WHSSC team members include player/manager Joe Agosto. Doug Chamlee, John Fulton, Sam Harrell, Wayne Mundy, Dick Sessink, and Ron Thompson. Congratulations guys.

The Florida Half Century 60s team Lake Wales Legends, managed by Kenny Duell, was crowned the state champions in the December 2008 tournament in Auburndale. Congratulations guys.

The Florida Half Century 50s team Road Ends Bullets won their division with a 4-0 record in the state tournament and went 1-1 in the championship games. The Bullets team was crowned runners up. Larry Powell is the manager. Congratulations guys.

Post 8 tournament players Ron Thompson, John Fulton, Bernie Stearns, and Doug Chamlee attended a banquet before the tournament.

Before the Florida Half Century January 2009 tournament, Reds Sporting Goods players Larry Sweet and Ed Kline met up with Arvel Waddell from the Tampa Bay Boltz.

Lakeland Angels shortstop Wayne Mundy was selected to participate in the East-West All Star game prior to the 2009 SSUSA Tournament of Champions. The All Star game was played in Auburndale on January 7, 2009. Wayne is the second player kneeling on the left in the team picture.

The Lakeland Angels, piloted by Jose Agosto, won the 65s AAA division of the SSUSA National Tournament of Champions. The tournament was contested at the Southwest Complex in Lakeland between January 9-11, 2009.

Elvis Abney, Tim Gallagher, Fred Dampier, & Don Bercaw travelled to Barefoot Bay and played two games with the Nalcrest Eagles team against the Barefoot Bay all star team on February 11, 2009. The Eagles won 18-9 in the first game and lost the second in the bottom of the seventh by a score of 13-11.

The Windham Elders were runners up in the 65s division of the Cape Cod Classic that took place September 11-13, 2009 in Wilimantic, Connecticut. Bill Ayer is the manager and sponsor and Elmer Black also plays on the team. Elmer had a grand slam during the tournament. Congratulations guys.

A team from Nalcrest journeyed to Barefoot Bay to play a doubleheader on November 11, 2009. They won the first game 18-15 and lost the second one 12-13. WHSSC members included Fred Dampier, Sam Harrell, and Ted Taylor.

The Lakeshore All Stars played against the Sebring All Stars in a wood bat doubleheader at Nalcrest Eagles Field on November 19, 2009. Lakeshore won game one 6-5 and won game two 13-4. WHSSC members included Fred Dampier and Freddy Gonzalez.

The Lakeland Cross-Cut Rounders won the Polk Senior Games gold medal in the 65s division in February of 2010. The team is managed by LSS member Larry Sweet. WHSSC members Marty Martinez and Dean Schapeler are on the team.

The Lakeland Cross-Cut Rounders 65s team, coached by LSS member Larry Sweet, won their division in the FHC March 2010 tournament at Red Bug Park in Altamonte Springs. WHSSC members included Marty Martinez and Dean Schapeler.

The American Legion Post 8 team in the Florida Half Century 70s bracket won their division in the April 2010 tournament at Merrill Park in Altamonte Springs. WHSSC members included Ed Kline, Doug McLellan, Wayne Mundy, Dick Sessink, & Ron Thompson.

The American Legion Post 8 team won the 70/80+ Gold Division bracket in the SSUSA Spring National Championship Qualifier tournament in April of 2010. Jose Agosto is the manager.

The Lakeland Cross-Cut Rounders are becoming the 65s team to beat in the Florida Half Century tournaments. The team won the May 2010 tournament at the Buffalo Glen Complex at The Villages and have won the last three FHC tournaments.

Chuck Duff, manager of All Star Grill, presented an MVP plaque to Jim Laffoon for his outstanding play in the SSUSA Spring National Qualifier tournament in February 2010. The team came in 2nd place in the AA division of the 60s bracket.

The American Legion Post 8 team, managed by Jose Agosto, won the Mens 70+ Silver Division of the SSUSA Tournament of Champions. The tournament took place from February 11th through February 13th, 2011.

Team Puerto Rico won four games against Team Canada in Lakeland during February of 2011. Former WHSSC member Marty Martinez managed the team.

Fred Dampier put together a team for a wood bat doubleheader in Haines City on January 14, 2012. The games were played against former Haines City High School baseball players and served as a benefit for the boys baseball team and girls softball team at Haines City High School.

Fred's Country Kitchen, a Florida Half Century 70s tournament team, consisting of Winter Haven Senior Softball Club and Lakeland Senior Softball players, played in the January 2012 tourney in Orlando.
