JIM RUMBOLD

Jim Rumbold, 82, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed on October 9, 2009 at Winter Haven Hospital. He was born on December 3, 1926 in Waverly, Pennsylvania.
Jim came to Winter Haven from Windsor Locks, Connecticut in 1994 and became active in the local senior softball program.
Jim was self employed as a mechanical contractor for Waverly Mechanical and was a World War II veteran while serving with the United States Navy.
He was a member of the VFW, where he was awarded Sportsman of the year in 1975. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven, Florida and several committees in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, incuding Republican Town Committee, Chariman of Fire/Saftey Building Committee, and the Board of Deacons of Second Baptist Church. He also was a board member of the Interfaith Housing Committee of Windsor Locks, Connecticut.
Jim was a coach for 18 years in Senior Little League and won three state championships while at the helm.
Jim's number one sports passion was tennis and he was active in the Senior Olympics National and State in Tennis. He was awarded many medals and was a member of the USTA.
Jim joined the Winter Haven Senior Softball Club in 1996 and ended his softball career after the 2004 season.
Jim is survived by his wife Isabel, son Bob, a sportscaster at Fox 61 in Hartford, Connecticut, sister Margie, two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
